It has to be noticed that the Nevada Chapter of the Associated General Contractors and its Community Outreach Committee will conclude a 60-day blitz Friday to help fill the backpacks of the more than 3,500 homeless and transitional students in our community.

At that, sixteen companies have gathered a truck load of basic school supplies for the Washoe County School District’s Children in Transition Program which serves children living in motels, homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters, Kids Cottage, or are an unaccompanied youth. Annually, over 1 million children experience homelessness. Going to school gives these students stability, security and a safe place to grow.

Members of the Community Outreach Committee and AGC donors will present supplies to CIT at 1 p.m. Friday at the Nevada Chapter AGC offices, 5400 Mill St., in Reno.Homeless Students
